sourcecode.
In 2006, I co-founded Sourcecode with Gavin Lynch, with the goal of creating something truly unique in the electronic music scene. Our high-energy audio-visual sets quickly gained traction, leading to gigs across Ireland and Europe, as well as a bi-monthly residency at Tripod, one of Dublin’s most prestigious clubs.
We pushed boundaries by fusing genres, which caught the attention of several labels, including London’s Evolved Records, Spinifex, and Nice & Nasty. We also launched our own digital label, AciiTone Digital, to bring more innovative sounds to the scene. It was an exciting and defining chapter in my journey as a music producer and collaborator.
Make surrender die ep
first release – 19/10/2006
Make Surrender Die was our first proper full release. It was a vinyl/digital release with Allan Banford’s Evopro Records. The title track was produced by Gavin Lynch and Brendan Sutton with Bren providing the vocals. The other two tracks were produced by Gavin and I, and were a lot more break-beat-orientated. Overall it was a strong first release.
i’ve seen the future EP
released 12/04/2007
I’ve seen the future was a track I produced on my own pre Sourcecode, but we decided to release it alongside Gavin’s “I want you back” and a full collaboration “Memories”. I provided the vocals for memories, recalling that I recorded the entire track vocals in one take with no lyrics even written. Just made up right on the spot. It was a fun time to be making music.
Sourcecode EP
released 28/06/2007
Still building towards our live show we released our third and final EP with Allan Banford. We had now enough material to create a full live show of our own material. Including original tracks and remixes of popular tracks.
First live show
june 2007
After almost a year of producing and working on music, Gavin and I had recently struck up a friendship with Dublin DJ and Promoter, Al Keegan. Al had been throwing some of the best parties across Dublin and he had recently come across a kind of demo live show that we had put together and was impressed. He asked if we would be interested in having our first proper live gig at his club night “Acii Disco”. I remember thinking I wanted to do something special visually so I spent a lot of time constructing a live visual show to go alongside the audio. I then roped in some friends to use some of my video equiptment to record the entire gig. After which I edited everything together into a live DVD which you can view in full below.
Aciitone digital
In 2007, alongside Gavin Lynch and Al Keegan, I co-founded AciiTone Digital as a platform for releasing our own music. However, as we saw the incredible talent emerging from both home and abroad, we expanded our vision to give artists who met our standards a space to release their work. The label concept was simple: three colors, three unique musical experiences.
AciiToneRed focused on dark, twisted minimal techno—tracks powerful enough to devastate a dance floor but intricate enough for regular listening outside of the club. AciiToneGreen was all about high-impact, big-room tunes, crafted to make any DJ set stand out as fresh and original. Meanwhile, AciiToneBlue catered to fans of deep, melodic, and progressive sounds, offering more subtle and reflective music for house lovers.
With a lineup of releases planned and collaborations with some of the world’s rising talents, AciiTone was all about bringing the freshest, most innovative sounds to the scene.
Visual change
more spectacle
As part of my role in Sourcecode, I wanted to create an unforgettable live experience by blending intense audio with equally striking visuals. To achieve this, I crafted a performance persona, wearing a mask inspired by the game Killzone and pairing it with laser gloves and my own custom laser light setup. These elements, combined with the visuals I designed, transformed each performance into a high-energy spectacle. My goal was simple: to leave a lasting impression, not just with the music but with a full-on sensory experience that made Sourcecode stand out in every venue we played.
